Wester Kenny-hill

A baren area extending from the Monkland Canal to Cumbernauld Road circa the 1800s.

The land was owned by the Stewart family for many generations and was purchased in 1866 by the City Improvement Trustees from Walter Stewart of Haghill.

After redevelopment between 1867 and 1868 it was opened by Princess Alexandra in 1870 as Alexandra Park.
