Previously a dance hall, it closed and reopened as a live music venue and later as a nightclub.

The Plaza was located near Category:St. Andrew's Cross on Victoria Road.

Opened in 1922. It has been closed since 1995 and is scheduled to be demolished to make way for 76 new flats. Although a plan exists to retain part of the facade.

Famous for it's fountain in the middle of the dance floor, impressive (for the time) sound and light system and 'sprung' flooring.

It was managed by Adam Sharp for around 40 years.

  • New Order played their first UK gig at The Plaza in 1981.
