It was later moved to it's current location, North Street in Charing Cross after the grant Edwardian Baroque building was constructed between 1906 and 1911 and officially opened by the Earl of Rosebery and Midlothian on the 16th October 1911. The former St. Andrew's Halls at the rear were converted to form an extension to the library and the The Mitchell Theatre following a fire in 1962.
