Sloans is popular for its seemingly untouched Victorian era decor. There is a circular bar and outdoor seating on the ground floor. It also features a 'snug' upstairs bar and large restaurant on the second floor as well as a period ballroom on the top floor.

There is an entrance from inside the Argyll Arcade as well as from the alley running north from Argyle Street and east from Buchanan Street.

Reopened in 2003 as the Bastille Taverne which then closed in the winter of 2006. It has since reopened as Sloans, early in 2007.

A sign outside the bar bills the venue as The Oldest Bar & Restaurant In Glasgow.
