[edit] History
The tenement fronting Argyle Street which forms the entrance to this promenade was built by John Reid circa 1780, but the arcade was built by a member of the same family, John Robertson Reid circa 1827. It wasn't until 1904 with the rennovation of the ornate iron-framed hammerbeam roof that the arcade was styled into how we see it now.
